Our Community Service Program
Community service should be a rewarding experience. With the right program, young people will take pride in their involvement. They will gain life skills and enjoy being part of a group where they can socialize and make new friends. Our Youth Squad® program provides you with all the tools you’ll need to be successful.
Rewarding
Our program is designed to guide youth through service projects. Working with parents, teachers, leaders or mentors, children will begin as young as preschool to be introduced to the rewards of volunteering. Older children will show pride as they self-guide through the requirements. Teens will be able to use the acquired experience to organize their own action projects. Members can also earn the Presidential Volunteer Service Awards while completing our Patch Programs®.
Educational
Our program is not “school-work”. Children and teens will learn while they participate. Every requirement provides resources to get started. Older children can “try on” career choices. Teens will be able to build a resume and add accomplishments to their college application. Educators can include our program with their curriculum to provide hands-on activities to enrich the classroom experience.
Flexible
All requirements are flexible allowing you to adjust for your geographic area and your team’s situation. Group size, age range and abilities can be easily accommodated. Existing groups such as Scout troops, service units, packs and dens can incorporate our program into their existing program. Earned patches can be displayed with their other patches. American Heritage Girls, Frontier Girls and any other youth organizations can plan their community service using our program guidelines.
Scout Troops
While you don’t need to be part of a scout troop to participate, the Youth Squad® program will fit seamlessly into the current programming. Multi-level troops are able to work on one project with each individual working at their own level. You can combine boys and girls, include tag-alongs or extra adults.
Self-Guided
All program levels are self-guided. With minimal adult supervision, achievers can follow along with the step-by-step instructions. Children will gain important life skills like organization, administration and teamwork.
Easy and Economical
There are no required books or binders to purchase. All requirements are on one page. Members can view them electronically or download. Resource material is available at no charge. Patches and pins are economically priced. Everything else is optional.
