Our shelter section is for groups and individuals concerned about shelter in their community.
The suggested requirements are designed to make the program fun, educational and rewarding. Following along with the requirements will prepare the participant to complete the final service project.
All level requirements are flexible. You decide what works best for your group.
Clothes Helper Patch Program®
At the “Helping Hands” level children will learn about clothes.
Requirement 1: Make It!
Do an art or craft activity to get excited about doing a clothes project.
Requirement 2: Learn It!
Watch the video to learn how to take care of your clothes.
Requirement 3: Do It!
Choose and complete one of the suggested age-appropriate service projects for helping to take care of clothes.
Requirement 4: Earn it!
Receive the Clothes Helper Patch.

Clothes Helper Badge In A Bag®

Clothing Drive Patch Program®
At the “Friend” level children will learn how to collect clothes for those in need.
Optional worksheet download is provided for pre-meeting.
Requirement 1: Learn It!
Learn how poverty affects families in this country and how it makes it hard for them to afford basic needs like clothes.
Requirement 2: See It!
Visit a Salvation Army or second hand store and think about what you can donate to help families in need of clothing.
Requirement 3: Do It!
Choose and complete one of the suggested clothing drive projects.
Requirement 4: Review It!
Review your project. Optional review worksheet is provided for younger achievers.

Volunteer for the Homeless Patch Program®
At the “Volunteer” level you will learn how to plan for a volunteer for the homeless project.
Optional word search download is provided for pre-meeting.
Requirement 1: Research It!
Find a local homeless shelter to volunteer for and think about what you can do to help.
Requirement 2: See It!
Visit one or more local shelters and find one that is a good fit for you to volunteer.
Requirement 3: Do It!
Make a commitment to improve the community by participating in a homelessness volunteer project.

Shelter Advocate Patch Program®
At the “Advocate” level you will learn how to effectively advocate for shelter in your community.
Requirement 1: Research It!
Use the provided links to learn about the struggles facing the homeless and how you can help improve conditions in your community.
Requirement 2: Do It!
Plan and complete one of the suggested advocacy programs to help improve shelter conditions in your community.
Requirement 3: Review It!
Review your experience advocating for shelter and thank those who helped.

Shelter Delegate Pin Program
At the “Delegate” Level you will learn to organize and lead a shelter service project.
Requirement 1: Choose It!
Use the provided links to choose a topic for your shelter action project.
Requirement 2: Plan It!
Learn how to plan and organize your action project including fundraising and outreach.
Requirement 3: Do It!
Join in during your project to supervise and provide assistance at all levels. Don’t forget to thank the volunteers, organizations and mentors that helped you complete your project!
